Celebrating teams and organisations in the public purpose sector
The Leadership Awards play a critical role in connecting, empowering and celebrating Victoria’s public purpose sector through the recognition and acknowledgement of outstanding leadership.
These awards honour the excellence and innovation of teams and organisations working in, and with, the Victorian public purpose sector including Victorian community organisations, academics and experts, private firms and all three levels of government in Victoria – Commonwealth, State and Local. They represent a pinnacle of achievement and acknowledgement for those initiatives working for the benefit of the Victorian community.
The theme of the awards for 2025 is ’Making the difference – recognising exceptional design and delivery across the public purpose sector’. This theme was designed to showcase the broad work across multiple sectors, which have a significant impact on the community, both now and into the future, which is highlighted across our 17 Awards finalists.
Award eligibility
- Nominations can be submitted by any employee delivering government services Victorian public purpose sector including Victorian community organisations, academics and experts, private firms and all three levels of government in Victoria – Commonwealth, State and Local.
- Nominations can include projects, policies, partnerships, reforms, regulations, strategies, campaigns, programs, continuous improvement initiatives, etc.
- Nominations may be made for a wide range of initiatives/projects, including new and existing programs as long as the criteria are addressed.
- IPAA Victoria recognises many initiatives are the result of collaborations and partnerships. Where appropriate, IPAA Victoria encourages collaborators and partners to submit a shared nomination, provided other conditions of entry are met.
- There is no limit to the number of nominations from an organisation. However, a specific initiative may only be nominated once, in one category, in any given year. Unsuccessful nominations may be resubmitted in subsequent years.

IPAA Victoria’s Leadership Awards play a critical role in connecting, empowering and celebrating Victoria’s public purpose sector by recognising and acknowledging outstanding leadership, and these prestigious Awards honour the excellence and innovation of teams and organisations working in or alongside the Victorian public purpose sector, including community organisations, academic institutions, private firms, and all levels of government: Commonwealth, State and Local.
