Over 800 guests comprising public purpose sector leaders and professionals attended IPAA Victoria’s International Women’s Day Gala at Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre on Thursday 6 March
This year’s event, one of the most celebrated in the public purpose sector, brought together eminent speakers, leaders, and innovators to reflect on key achievements and explore the path ahead. Centred around the theme “Marching Forward for Women’s Health,” the event highlighted the contributions of women in our sector while fostering vital discussions on the persistent challenges and barriers surrounding women’s health. It was a powerful opportunity to reflect on progress, share insights, and inspire meaningful change.
It’s a pleasure to represent IPAA Victoria, the peak professional association for Victoria’s Public Purpose Sector, at this year’s International Women’s Day Gala. It’s a wonderful opportunity to network, celebrate, and reflect on how we can connect, empower, and advance gender equality together,’
– Amanda Stevens, Chief Executive Officer, IPAA Victoria.
Hosted by Caroline Kell, the evening brought together an extraordinary lineup of speakers who shared their invaluable insights and experiences:
- Professor Shelley Dolan, CEO of Royal Melbourne Hospital, delivered an inspiring keynote address on the future of women’s healthcare. Reflecting on how far we have come, she also highlighted areas where progress is still needed.
- Professor Jayashri Kulkarni AM, whose groundbreaking work at HER Centre Australia is transforming the way women’s mental health is addressed.
- Nicole McCartney, Victorian Chief Aboriginal Health Adviser, who shared her vision for improving healthcare outcomes for Aboriginal communities through culturally safe and inclusive practices.
- Professor Marion Saville AM, whose dedication to cervical cancer prevention is saving lives across Australia, outlined the critical importance of early detection and equitable access to healthcare.
This year’s event served as a powerful reminder of the progress made and the work that still lies ahead in achieving gender equality.
