Cenitex: The secrets of an award-winning public sector workplace

17 Oct 2023

Following the excitement of IPAA Victoria’s Leadership in the Public Sector Awards ceremony, this podcast episode features Frances Cawthra, CEO, Cenitex, the winner of the Leading Employer Award, and Brigid Monagle, Commissioner, Victorian Public Sector Commission, about the two-year program of transformation Cenitex delivered as part of its Employee experience uplift project.

IPAA Victoria’s Leadership in the Public Sector Awards celebrate and recognise exceptional design and delivery of teams and organisations. Following the excitement and buzz of the awards ceremony in June 2023, our latest podcast episode puts a spotlight and amplifies Cenitex, the Leading Employer Award winner, about their Employee Experience Uplift initiative.

The Leading Employer Award recognises an employer for their innovative and holistic approach to its people in fostering a positive and high-performing culture through strong leadership, smart recruitment practices and new and digital technologies. Over two years, Cenitex transformed its approach to employees and customers by getting back to basics and treating people as humans first. Working with the business to understand the human experience of stakeholders, Cenitex implemented a mix of initiatives to uplift the employee lifecycle from attraction and onboarding, through development and inclusion, talent pipelines and graduates, and retention and succession.

Cenitex is the Victorian Government owned provider of shared services for the Victorian public sector with 600 staff supporting more than 46,000 public servants in workplaces across Victoria. Cenitex also played a central role in the sector’s shift to remote working that was required during the COVID-19 crisis.

In our latest podcast episode of Public Sector Perspectives, Frances Cawthra, CEO, Cenitex, and Brigid Monagle, Commissioner, Victorian Public Sector Commission, discuss how Cenitex’s Employee Experience Uplift program has helped them to attract, retain and develop their workforce during COVID-19 and then in the post-COVID-19 tight labour market.

There’s a funny thing about trust, it’s a paradox, because you never know you can trust someone until you do. The very nature of you trusting them makes them trustworthy. So I think, be brave. Trust someone… trust your people… because I know my people have just done everything they can to make a huge difference.
