In honour of International Women’s Day (8 March) (IWD), IPAA Victoria, along with its Aboriginal Advisory Committee, will celebrate the unique status, cultures and contributions that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have demonstrated in driving bold ideas, inclusive opportunities and transformational change.
IPAA Victoria’s International Women’s Day Gala Dinner is one of IPAA Victoria’s flagship events. For 2023, IPAA Victoria will explore treaty, truth and self-determination. IPAA Victoria considers that this event is a timely opportunity to explore the impact of treaty and truth-telling across different sectors, and how the innovation underpinning these nation-leading processes will support gender equity and valuable change.
“This year’s First Nations panel will share important stories, experiences and explore themes relating to treaty, truth-telling and self-determination,”
IPAA Victoria recognises the significant role First Nations women have in not only Aboriginal communities, but broader society, and their critical involvement in driving positive change, transformation, and improving gender equality. IPAA Victoria is committed to celebrating diversity including all gender identities and cultures through its programs.
‘This year’s First Nations panel will share important stories, experiences and explore themes relating to treaty, truth-telling and self-determination,’ said Nina Cullen, CEO, IPAA Victoria.
‘With the Victorian Government’s focus on Treaty, and Yoorrook Justice Commission’s milestones in 2023, this event will be a wonderful opportunity for public purpose sector leaders and professionals to acknowledge, learn, and implement the necessary changes,’ added Nina Cullen, CEO, IPAA Victoria.
This year’s UN Women Australia’s IWD theme for 2023 is Cracking the Code: Innovation for a gender-equal future. This important theme highlights the role that innovation including inclusive technologies, and accessible education can play in combating discrimination, barriers to equality and the marginalisation of women globally.
IWD is a global day commemorating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality and has become a time to reflect on progress and a time to celebrate every woman globally.
IPAA Victoria would like to thank major partner KPMG and partners Maddocks, Fisher Leadership and Vic Super/ Aware Super for their continued support.
