Overview
Each year, the Ombudsman deals with more than 3,000 complaints that raise human rights issues.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought complaints about human rights into focus given the way that government services were delivered needed to change in response to the pandemic. There may be circumstances where agency complaint handlers and decision makers need to consider whether human rights have been unreasonably limited and what can be done to address any issues.
Come along to hear from the Victorian Ombudsman, Deborah Glass OBE, who will be joined by Andreea Lachsz, Head of Policy, Communications and Strategy at the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service, to explore handling complaints about human rights.
Through a discussion of case examples, this webinar will assist complaint handlers and decision makers to continue to use the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act to make fair decisions and promote human rights.
