Sustainability Starters: Implementing Social Procurement

23 Apr 2021Online

Overview

Almost all sectors of the economy face major disruption from climate transition and the physical impacts of climate change over the coming years. The projected impacts of climate change also cut across almost all areas of government responsibility. Yet, many organisations are still not engaging seriously with these risks, or positioning themselves to take advantage of potential opportunities.

This seminar is designed for those interested in social and sustainable procurement either within the public sector, private or social enterprise sectors. It will present an overview of social procurement policy by Warren Staples and how this is likely to continue to be a focus for governments. We will then hear from Angela Brown from the Level Crossing Removal Project on her work and in particular engaging refugee engineers. Finally, we will hear from Deirdre Diamante from Mia Consulting discussing her experience working with corporates and government on social procurement and as an elected representative in Local Government for the Manningham Council.
