In conversation with Jeroen Weimar, Secretary of the Department of Transport and Planning

Jeroen Weimar is the Secretary of the Department of Transport and Planning, serving over 7 million Victorians who rely on the state’s roads, buses, trams and trains every day.  In this role, Jeroen is also driving major reforms to the state’s planning system to enable more homes to be built and more businesses to operate in Victoria. 

Over the next few years, Jeroen and his team will be delivering major network changes, such as the opening of Metro Tunnel and the Westgate Tunnel and implementing once-in-a-generation reforms to Victoria’s transport, planning, and land use systems. 

Jeroen’s extensive experience includes serving as Deputy Secretary at the Department of Premier and Cabinet; leading Victoria’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic; leading both VicRoads and Public Transport Victoria as CEO and, back in the UK, as Chief Operating Officer at Transport for London. 

Jeroen also has a background in urban planning and is a graduate of the London School of Economics.   

Amanda is the Chief Executive Officer of IPAA Victoria, joining the organisation in January 2024.

With over 20 years’ experience in the public purpose sector, Amanda Stevens, a corporate governance lawyer by training, has held several executive and non-executive leadership roles in federal, state and local government, including the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, Victorian Building Authority, Department of Health Covid Response and three consecutive years as the Mayor of the City of Port Phillip.

She is an experienced board chair and director serving on numerous boards with positions including Chair of the South Melbourne Market and a board member of the Australian National Academy of Music and many other community and not-for-profit boards.
