Full and frank advice: what you need to know as a public servant

29 Nov 2021Online

Overview

In this event public sector leaders and leading public administration experts discuss our obligations for informing and advising Ministers and how you play a role.

In Victoria, public servants are required to provide full, frank, impartial and timely advice to Ministers, who account to Parliament and the community. While it’s Secretaries who have the ultimate responsibility to brief Ministers, in practice many public servants contribute to this process.

Come along to learn about your role and responsibilities as a public servant and how you contribute to responsible government. Our guests will discuss key principles to follow, common challenges and how to overcome them. You’ll learn about new resources published by the Victorian Public Sector Commission and how you might draw upon these principles in your work life.

This event will be hosted by Nina Cullen, CEO, IPAA Victoria, she will be joined by Adam Fennessy PSM, Victorian Public Sector Commissioner.
