Brief writing is a unique way of writing that requires the highest levels of clarity and accountability.

Using a public administration accountability framework, this half day workshop will enable public sector professionals to construct effective and focused briefs for decision makers.

You will benefit from this workshop by

  • understanding the brief as a public record
  • using a brief as a device for guiding decisions
  • identifying your role and accountability in brief writing
  • evaluating the function of purpose statements
  • writing a purpose statement clearly expressing what you want the decision maker to do
  • communicating logically, using a functional structure
  • writing clear and compelling content, without ambiguity or subjectivity
