How Government Works - 19 March 2012

19 Mar 2012

Working in the public sector for the first time can be like going to a new country: some practices are familiar, but others are strangely different.

This one day interactive workshop throws open the doors and unlocks the codes and conventions of how government works, across all levels. It is designed for those who are new to the public sector, or working with government for the first time.

You will benefit from this workshop by

  • clarifying your understanding of Commonwealth, state and local systems of government
  • gaining insight into federalism and state / Commonwealth relations
  • identifying what drives policy and program development (including policy processes)
  • knowing how the budget cycle operates
  • learning how to work with ministers, advisors and stakeholders
