High performers recognised

The long term work of thirteen high performing public administrators has been recognised in the list of new Fellows of Victoria’s Institute for Public Administration Australia. Fellowship is awarded to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to public administration, the achievement of IPAA’s objectives and exemplary service to the Victorian community.

“This is a high bar to cross” said Fran Thorn, IPAA Victoria President, in making the announcement at the 2011 IPAA Victoria Fellows Dinner on 23 November 2011. “Their combined achievements are impressive in their scale and scope and their work has made a great contribution to Victoria” she said.

She noted that the new Victorian Fellows came from all levels of government in Victoria and from the private and not-for-profit sectors.

“As the professional association for people working in the public sector, IPAA Victoria is the place where all three spheres of government in Victoria can come together” she said.

Bringing all levels of government together with the unique skills and networks of the private and not-for-profit sectors, is increasingly recognised as a vital ingredient in the development and delivery of effective public policy.

Also recognised at the Dinner were Victoria’s two new National Fellows Gerard Vaughan (Director of the National Gallery of Victoria) and Peter Dawkins (former Secretary of the Department for Education and Early Childhood Development).

Yehudi Blacher, new Vice President of IPAA National, congratulated the two new National Fellows, noting that the nature of the achievements placed them in a unique group of Australian administrators.
