Congratulations 2011 YIPAA Mentoring Group

Committed Mentors and Mentees who were part of the 2011 YIPAA Peer Plus Mentor Program convened on Monday the 28th of November to celebrate a valuable year of learning and development.

The Peer Plus Program is now in its 5th year and is run by IPAA in partnership with the Australian mentor Centre. The Program is designed to provide young public service professionals with an additional layer of career and professional development support during their foundation stages of service with the public sector, while building a pool of experienced mentors to strengthen the mentoring culture within YIPAA.

On Monday the group was able to reflect on the year and the program, particularly in light of the evaluation survey feedback that was collected. Four participants formally shared with the group, considering what they had personally learned through their mentoring experience and offering insights into the successes and indeed the challenges they faced throughout the year. The insights shared were illuminating and valuable for the group and the coordination team. Later in the evening, professional networking expert, Ron Gibson, joined the group to deliver an incredibly engaging presentation on how to develop and maintain professional networks, which many of the YIPAA mentees, in particular, found beneficial.

The 2012 Peer Plus Mentoring Program will begin formally in March next year, and registrations are open until the 20th of January. For more information please click here.
