Even more than excellent classes and fantastic speakers and events throughout the year, what I most value from IPAA membership are opportunities to interact with VPS colleagues to exchange the ideas, experiences and inspiration that enable better outcomes for Victoria.

Personal member Mr Patrick McCormick, Department of Premier and Cabinet

When you're in a profession I think it is important to really be part of that profession. IPAA provides the opportunity to develop professionally, to meet others and hear about their ways of working, their achievements and to learn about different ways of doing things, innovating, within a public sector context. IPAA can link people across different areas of interest and helps develop a sense of being part of a broader, highly professional public sector.

Personal Member Ms Lynne Wannan AM, Department of Planning and Community Development

I chose to be a member of IPAA Victoria as a way to stay in touch with fellow public servants and those with a strong interest in public policy. IPAA provides a range of forums to inform, share and develop public policy skills that provides something for all of us. The functions are always enjoyable, well run and stimulating so that you leave having learnt something and had a good time!

Victorian Fellow Dr Lynne Williams, Formerly Department of Treasury and Finance

The reason I am a longstanding member of IPAA is because I believe it is important that the public sector is represented by a body that understands, supports and advocates for the challenges of professional public service. The public sector operates in a complex, often relentless, intrinsically rewarding environment, but the challenges faced by public servants are often poorly understood and the prestige is, let’s face it, is limited. It is vital we support and learn from each other. IPAA provides effective networks, information and challenging opportunities for me and my staff to learn across sectors and levels of government.
